News: Ratings For Peter Kay's Car Share Finale

Last night’s Peter Kay’s Car Share: The Finale peaked at 6.4m viewers; the average was 6m with a 34.2% audience share.

Peter Kay said: "It's been a five year labour of love and we've loved working on it."

Car Share fans were left in dismay last year after Kayleigh finally admitted her true feelings for John, but he refused to say how he felt as she stepped out of his car and seemingly out of his life for good.  Fans of the show even set up an online petition demanding a conclusion to the series which gathered over 100,000 signatures.

Last night’s finale has received an overwhelming response from fans and critics alike with the Daily Telegraph calling the final scene ‘Perfection’.

Shane Allen, Controller Comedy Commissioning said ‘The audience figures and responses have been phenomenal for this much loved show. With its beautiful blend of heart and hilarity it feels like a show that will be enjoyed for years to come.’

Peter Kay’s Car Share: The Finale and the rest of series 2 and Unscripted are available to view on BBC iPlayer and the Finale will be repeated on BBC One on Friday 1st June at 11.35pm.
