News: Michael McIntyre Gig Sends Fan To Hospital

On Sunday 11th March, Jessica Owen (19) attended the opening weekend of Michael McIntyre's Big World Tour in her hometown of Plymouth at the Plymouth Pavilions.  She was joined by her boyfriend Aiden and had been looking forward to seeing the show for months.

During the first half of the show, Jessica started to get unusual pains in her chest and began to get worried.

Jessica says:  "My chest started to really hurt with sharp pains and my arm went numb.  It was pretty scary.  We decided to leave ASAP and get it checked out.

"We went to our local A&E at the Derriford Hospital.  I had an ECG and was told my chest was inflamed from laughing too much. The doctor asked where I had been and he said " It's obvious what you've done ... you've laughed too hard!"

In a post on Michael's Facebook page, Jessica contacted Michael to let him know the dramatic turn of events from the show:

Jessica has now made a full recovery and has been offered tickets to see the show at a venue of her choice later on in the year.

Michael McIntyre's Big World Tour continues across the UK and Ireland throughout 2018. Buy tickets here.

Note: earlier this year it was reported in various publications (not here) that comedian Ed Byrne had saved a fan's life during a gig by doing the the Heimlich manoeuvre on them. This story turned out to be untrue, according to Byrne. We have published the above story in good faith and have no reason to doubt it, having been told about it by MM's publicists.
