News: Young Frankenstein Picks Up Olivier Nominations

Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein has picked up a number of Olivier Award nominations today.

Ross noble is up for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical for his performance as Igor. Lesley Joseph is up for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical. The production itself is up for Mastercard Best New Musical. Read our review here.

It is not, however, nominated in the Best Comedy category. The four contenders there are Dry Powder at Hampstead Theatre, Labour Of Love at Noël Coward Theatre, Mischief Movie Night at Arts Theatr and The Miser at Garrick Theatre. The Miser starred Griff Rhys Jones, Lee Mack, Andi Osho and Katy Wix. Read our review here.

Elsewhere Hamilton has become the most nominated production in the history of the Awards, receiving 13 nominations.

The results are announced on April 8 at the Royal Albert Hall at a night hosted by Catherine Tate. Read the full nominations here.
