Members of the Parks and Recreation cast and crew have taken to social media to express their disgust at the National Rifle Association using an image of Amy Poehler's character Leslie Knope saying "thank you" on social media.
After spokeswoman Dana Loesch had been speaking about gun ownership following the Parkland school shooting in Florida the NRA tweeted: "‘@DLoesch thank you for being the voice of over 5 Million #NRA members", accompanied by a looped image of Leslie Knope.
Parks and Recreation people reacted angrily. Series creator Michael Schur, aka @KenTremendous posted: "Hi, please take this down. I would prefer you not use a GIF from a show I worked on to promote your pro-slaughter agenda. Also, Amy isn't on twitter, but she texted me a message: "Can you tweet the NRA for me and tell them I said fuck off?""
Adam Scott who played Ben Wyatt added: "Hey @nra please stay the fuck away from Leslie Knope."
Nick Offerman, alias Ron Swanson, chipped in with: ‘.@NRA @DLoesch our good-hearted show and especially our Leslie Knope represent the opposite of your pro-slaughter agenda – take it down and also please eat shit."
