News: New Sponsor And Acts Confirmed For Glasgow International Comedy Festival

The Glasgow International Comedy Festival has announced a sponsorship deal with Whyte & Mackay Blended Whisky for the 2018 Festival. From next year the festival will be known as the Whyte & Mackay Glasgow International Comedy Festival.

Some of the big names for the Festival in March have already been announced. They include David Baddiel, Bridget Christie, Des Clarke, Tommy Tiernan, Katherine Ryan and Rob Delaney. The full programme will be revealed in January.

Whyte & Mackay CEO Bryan Donaghey was delighted with the announcement, commenting “We are thrilled to be involved with such an iconic event and look forward to helping make the 2018 Whyte & Mackay Glasgow International Comedy Festival a huge success. As a brand with humour and Glaswegian heritage at our core, we feel the partnership is an ideal stage to share our Surprisingly Smooth blend with a new audience....”

Sarah Watson, Director of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival said “We are hugely excited to announce this partnership which will allow us to create an even better festival and bring more laughs to Glasgow next March. Whyte & Mackay have some great things planned and we’re looking forward to revealing more in the coming months alongside 2018’s line up of top flight comedy talent.”

The Glasgow International Comedy Festival is also supported by EventScotland, part of VisitScotland’s Events Directorate.

The 2018 Whyte & Mackay Glasgow International Comedy Festival kicks off on Thursday 8th March and will run over 18 days, playing host to over 470 shows across 50 venues. As Europe’s largest dedicated comedy festival, the event will bring some of the biggest names in comedy to Glasgow, as well as a range of up-and-coming talent from Scotland and beyond.
