Comedian Roy Chubby Brown's forthcoming gig at Newcastle City Hall has been cancelled. 

Brown was due to appear there on April 14, 2018, but Newcastle Theatre Royal Trust, the new management that took over at the prestigious venue in 2016, has taken the decision to cancel the gig due, they say, to Brown's “unpleasant, crude and offensive” act.

According to a report in the Chronicle Live Brown said: “I’ve done so well over the years and playing City Hall has been the pinnacle. It’s like a divorce with them telling me sorry, we don’t love you anymore. Have I left a turd in the dressing room?"
