Two of the most distinctive voices in comedy come together in a double bill headlining show, as Tim Heidecker makes his UK stand up debut alongside ‘America’s Funnyman’ Neil Hamburger at the Soho Theatre.
Heidecker is often recognised for his collaborations with fellow comedian Eric Wareheim. The duo created and starred in two successful Adult Swim series Tom Goes to the Mayor (2004) and Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! (2007).
They have also released several comic albums, created and starred in the film Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie (2012) and co-directed a series of popular Old Spice commercials starring actor Terry Crews.
Heidecker has featured in films including Bridesmaids (2011) and The Comedy (2012) and released many comic albums including a collection of one time presidential candidate Herman Cain-inspired music and Vice Magazine’s best album of 2013 Urinal St. Station. He has performed as his stand-up comedian persona for sold out audiences across the USA and Canada.
For 20 years Neil Hamburger has worked every imaginable stage, from New York’s Madison Square Garden and the UK’s Reading Festival, to a Hollywood cemetery, Tasmanian pubs, and an abandoned monkey cage in a decrepit Catskills zoo. With his unique brand of comedy, he has thrilled, perplexed and repulsed audiences worldwide, and now makes his long-awaited return to Soho Theatre for the fourth time.
Hamburger was the subject of the critically-acclaimed dramatic 2015 feature film Entertainment, which premiered at the Sundance and Locarno Film Festivals and co-starred John C. Reilly, Tye Sheridan and Michael Cera.
Neil and Tim are both known for their unique comedic styles. Neil has been described by The Guardian as ‘so unfunny that he's funny’ and Tim has acquired a cult following through the ‘complex but understated comedy’ (Guardian) of his Adult Swim series.
This run of shows from August 21 to September 2 will also include an evening event on Mon 28 Aug and a matinee event on Sat 2 Sep – special screenings hosted by the stars of the hit web series On Cinema at the Cinema, Tim Heidecker and Gregg Turkington.
