News: Author Kathy Lette Announces Live Shows

Author Kathy Lette is setting out on a live tour of the UK.

This will be her debut live comedy show, entitled Girls Night Out. Lette is best known for her many novels including How To Kill Your Husband: And Other Handy Household Hints, Foetal Attraction and Nip‘n’Tuck and for coining (some might say overusing) the phrase "black belt in tongue fu".

According to the press release Girls Night Out is a psychological striptease taking us from Puberty Blues to Menopause Blues, with tales of love, lust, men, marriage, pregnancy, childbirth, mastitis, sexist bosses, teenage-daughter-wrangling, ageing, toy boys, making the Queen laugh, hiding Julian Assange in her attic, tongue kissing Prince William and Close Encounters of the George Clooney Kind, en route."

Lette also talks about the trials, tribulations and hilarity of raising a child on the autistic spectrum, from the times Jules came home from school with a sign sticky-taped to his back saying “Kick me I’m a retard" to his success playing Jason on Holby City.

Lette appears regularly as a commentator on the BBC and Sky News. She is also an ambassador for Plan International, Ambitious about Autism and the National Autistic Society. She lives in London and can often be found at The Savoy (where she was writer in residence) drinking a cocktail named after her.

Her novels have been published in 17 languages around the world

She cites her career highlights as teaching Stephen Fry a word, Salman Rushdie the limbo and scripting Julian Assange’s cameo in the Simpsons 500th episode.

Her new book Best Laid Plans is out on 13 July.
