
The death of Gene Wilder has been announced. He was 83 and had been suffering from Alzheimers Disease. He died at his home in Stamford, Connecticut
Wilder was best known for his film work with Mel Brooks, starring in the acclaimed comedies The Producers, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein, which he co-wrote with Brooks.
He was also famous for starring in the film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. His image from the movie became famous in recent years for being used as the basis for umpteen memes. He also starred with comedian Richard Pryor in Silver Streak, Stir Crazy and See No Evil, Hear No Evil.
He was nominated for two Oscars, one for Best Supporting Actor in The Producers and one for Best Adapted Screenplay for Young Frankenstein.
