News: More Info On James Acaster TV Sitcom Pilot - Plot, Cast & Transmission Date

More details have been revealed about the forthcoming BBC sitcom pilot We The Jury, written by James Acaster.

We The Jury is a comedy about something William has dreamt of doing his whole life. He’s always known he was destined to be a juror but he never imagined that when the day finally came he’d land the mother of all jury gigs - an actual murder trial.

The twelve good men and women on William's jury turn out to be a mismatched collection of enthusiastic idiots, inconsiderate bullies and self-obsessed weirdos. Unfocused and easily distracted, they soon find themselves more interested in how the courtroom artist is making them look than what the witnesses may have to say.

Lucas (Oliver Maltman), foreman and least popular juror, is the ringleader, aided and abetted by surly indie musician Olivia (Diane Morgan), oddball bureau de change operative Hugh (Kenneth Collard), self-made businessman Mr. Martin (David Schaal), arcade worker Sam (Kae Alexander), poet Jen (Vivienne Acheampong) and butcher Don (Samson Kayo). Teacher Jen (Sophie Thompson) tries to keep them in check, and at the centre of everything is William (Ed Easton), intent on making jury service an experience they’ll never forget. Demob happy Judge Henman (Maggie Steed), in her final trial before retiring, presides over it all.

Kerry Howard, Ricky Champ, Joanna Brookes, Michael Higgs, Ritu Acharya, and Alex Kirk guest star.

James Acaster says of the show: “This is a show for anyone who has done/wants to do/doesn't want to do/could do/has never done or will never do jury duty. I'm really looking forward to people seeing it as I'm already a huge fan.”

We The Jury is written and created by James Acaster. Executive Producers are Big Talk Chief Executive, Kenton Allen and Saurabh Kakkar. Josh Cole is Producer with Ben Taylor as Director.

We The Jury will be broadcast on BBC Two at 10pm on 5 September 2016.
