News: Entries Invited For The Amused Moose Comedy Awards

Entry is now open for the Amused Moose Comedy Award 2016. The competition, now in its sixth year, searches for the best comedy shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe from as yet undiscovered talent.

The winner will join previous winners, who include Tony Law, Marcel Lucont, Celia Pacquola, Jess Robinson and last year's winner Richard Gadd (pictured with co-star Ben Target) and will receive a shiny Moose trophy and a London showcase.

To qualify for entry, shows must be listed in the comedy section of the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe programme/website for at least 18 dates, and must not have won or been nominated for any other major comedy award in the UK or internationally. Entries from shows featuring more than one performer are welcomed as long as the cast does not change.

Entries close at midnight on Sunday 7th August, by which time a filmed preview of the entered show must have been uploaded for viewing by the Amused Moose industry panel which includes agents, producers and journalists, worldwide.

The ten shows selected by the panel (both online, and live at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival) will perform a 10 minute excerpt of their choice during the Amused Moose Comedy Award Grand Final at The Space @ Symposium Hall on the afternoon of Sunday 21st August 2016, when the trophy will be presented by the new CEO of the Edinburgh Fringe, Shona McCarthy. Tickets, priced £12, are available here.
