There has been a lot of chat in comedy circles recently about the rise of physical comedy. Dr Brown won the Foster's Award, Trygve Wykenshaw picked up a Foster's nomination and Spencer Jones has been one of the breakthrough acts of 2015.
But before this bunch of knockabout jesters there was Jos Houben, who has been exploring the way the human body can make us laugh for years. His one-man show The Art of Laughter is literally a masterclass in demonstrating what tickles our funny bone. It's a brilliant display of virtuoso clowning that really should be seen by anyone who has an interest in this type of comedy – which should be anyone who has an interest in comedy.
Houben is back in London in January to perform the show on January 10 as part of the London International Mime Festival. You can read more about Houben and the Festival here. And now the really good news. Beyond the Joke has a pair of tickets to give away for the Art of Laughter on January 10.
