Friends star David Schwimmer has joined the cast of Morning Has Broken, the eagerly anticipated new Channel 4 sitcom starring and written by Julia Davis.

Schwimmer will play an American TV executive in the comedy, which follows the ups and downs of Gail Sinclair, a daytime TV presenter, played by Davis.

According to the Radio Times Schwimmer's character is brought in to save the failing show. Comedian Nick Mohammed also appears as one of the show's anchors.

Morning Has Broken will air in 2016. Julia Davis will also be appearing on television again in more episodes of Hunderby on Sky Atlantic.
