When MC Hammersmith turned 18, his parents (MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice) revealed he was adopted (!). His two famous dads helped him ascend to the top of the rap game. Now he must embark on a quest to find his biological family, the only way he knows how: by performing an hour of improvised hip hop comedy based on audience suggestions.
The past year has seen MC Hammersmith support Jason Manford on his live arena tour (including the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, where he performed to over 10,000 people), sell-out the entire run of his current UK tour including several extra dates, Hippity Hoppity Get Off My Property, and continuously rack up millions of views online for his mind-boggling raps, garnering over 1.7 million followers across social channels.
In recent years, MC Hammersmith has performed alongside many famous hip-hop and rap artists – most notably rapping for Dave in a viral “Guess The Musician” Beta Squad video (which has over 14.7 million views on YouTube), and was invited to freestyle at R.A. The Rugged Man’s London live show.
Aside from rapping, MC Hammersmith writes for acclaimed YouTube comedy series Epic Rap Battles of History and regularly performs improv comedy at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and beyond with three of the biggest touring improv shows in the world: Baby Wants Candy, Shamilton and The Spontaneous Players. He has also been seen and heard on: Patrick Kielty (BBC Radio 5 Live), Matt Chorley (BBC Radio 5 Live), Can You Hear Me Now? (BBC Radio 4), Comedians’ Rap Battles (BBC iPlayer), The Late Show with Ewen Cameron (STV). As a live performer, he has won the Scottish Comedy Award for Best Variety (2020) and Best Newcomer (2018), and the 2017 UK Improv Smackdown Championship.
