Comedy's Biggest Prize Returns And It's Bigger Than Ever

Comedy's Biggest Prize Returns

NextUp – the ‘Netflix of UK stand-up’ – is bringing The Biggest Award in Comedy back to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for 2025. And in true Fringe tradition, it’s grown. Again.

That’s right. The trophy now stands at a magnificent 2 metres and 3 centimetres tall - a whole 1cm bigger than last year’s monstrous monument to mirth. Once again, it's not just figuratively big…it's genuinely, inconveniently enormous.

Last year’s winner Colin Hoult, whose show Colin scooped the 2024 award, said: “I was entirely overwhelmed by the love from the Nextup community when I won the award and equally overwhelmed by the sheer size of the bugger which I now use for my mobile bouncy castle business. It really is the gift that keeps on giving. Best of luck you creative geniuses.

This year, the victorious comedian will receive:

  • A 2 metre 3cm inflatable trophy (scientifically the biggest award in comedy)

  • A hand pump

  • A carry case (for discretion, not dignity)

  • £500

  • The option to have their special recorded and showcased on the NextUp platform

Daniel Berg, co-founder of NextUp, commented:

“The world’s biggest and most inconvenient award is back! And it’s 1cm bigger. The only thing more ridiculous than its size, is the notion of judging comedy. But with this award, there are no winners. Only somebody who gets the most votes and is then burdoned with a 2 metre inflatable trophy during their most stressful time of their year. Get voting!”

Voting is open now at nextupcomedy.com/biggestaward
The winner will be announced on 22nd August 2025 and presented with their 2 metre 3cm trophy.
