During an interview on Radio X Taskmaster's Alex Horne has said that since he last appeared on the show and mentioned there was one person on Taskmaster that he didn’t like, there’s been lots of speculation, with various contestants asking if he was talking about them.
Here is a snippet of his conversation with hosts Chris Moyles and Pippa Taylor.
AH: Also, last time I was on you made me say that there’s been one person on Taskmaster that I don’t like.
CM: Oh yeah!
AH: And I’ve had a lot of stick from that. And every time I do a Q&A type thing; the first question is ‘who is it?’
P: Speculation is rife.
AH: So, I could drip feed more details if you want.
CM: Has anybody who’s done Taskmaster said to you ‘apparently there’s someone you don’t like, was it me?’
AH: Yes. Yeah, people are quite worried about that.
CM: And can we ask, out of the people that asked that, was it any of them?
AH: So, it’s a bit like ‘Guess Who’ now, isn’t it?
AH: It wasn't one of the people who've asked me. I think if you are aware enough to think it might be you, then it's not you.
CM: The first person to ask you was it Ed Gamble?
AH: Ed knows I like him. But he is also quite insecure, so I wouldn't put it past him to ask me. But it wasn't him and he and also he didn't ask so that’s another down.
Horne also revealed that Jason Mantzoukas emailed him directly asking to be on Taskmaster, and because he is severely allergic to eggs, the team had to take extra care when planning each task.
CM: So, series nineteen is on now?
AH: That’s on, that’s with people like Jason Mantzoukas.
CM: He’s the American. And am I right in saying he’s a massive fan of Taskmaster? And wrote to them and said ‘can I be on the show please? I’m American and I love it.’
AH: Yeah, when you say wrote to them, he wrote to me.
CM: Oh, really?AH: I got an email out of the blue saying, ‘I’m watching your show, can I be on it?’ And I said yes, and I wish that’s how it always worked in life.
AH: Yeah, he flew in to do the show and so he was always the last person to do every task. So, he knew that he could destroy everything. He was sort of nice about it, but he did break more than he said he would, and he had that Hollywood energy as well. Just you've slightly in awe of these Americans. He is very allergic to egg.
CM: Now did you know that ahead of coming up with the-
AH: We did. We had many warnings not to kill Mantzoukas with egg.
CM: So, how many egg tasks can we expect?
AH: It’s a very light series in the end because normally it’s egg heavy.
P: Can he be around eggs or is it like an airborne thing?
AH: He brings a packed lunch on a plane, imagine that.
