Mel Giedroyc to Take Over As New Host Of Where There’s A Will There’s A Wake

Hit podcast Where There’s A Will There’s A Wake returns later this month with a new ‘Mortician-in-Chief’, Mel Giedroyc, following national treasure Kathy Burke's fond (and characteristically foul-mouthed) farewell as previous host.

Mel takes the reins of the gloriously dark comedy podcast where celebrity guests bring their deaths to life as they plan their final day, from dawn to dusk and into the afterlife.

Best known for co-hosting The Great British Bake Off and turning it into a national institution, Giedroyc has brought her cheeky charm to everything from Taskmaster to The Magic Request Show to Eurovision: You Decide. Now, she's perfectly poised to guide guests through their dream demises... and we're dying to hear what she digs up.

Mel Giedroyc says: "What a complete honour it is to step in as the new resident mischief-maker at Where There’s a Will There’s a Wake. I’ll be gleefully rifling through the coffins of the great and good, unearthing their deathly daydreams, and scrubbing up my halo (or perhaps pitchfork) as I guide them into the great beyond...Now, where did I put my scythe and clipboard?"

Where There’s A Will There’s A Wake will continue to be a who’s who of the entertainment world, but this season invites fans to the gates of heaven visually as well, with all episodes available in video for the first time. Previous guests of the show include Claudia WinklemanStanley TucciKim Cattrall, Bob MortimerLily Allen and Michael Sheen

We've already heard James Acaster express his desire to be eaten by a Tyrannosaurus rex, Dawn French's plan to be embalmed and buried in a Perspex coffin and Alan Carr's dream obituary in Take A Break. With Mel at the helm, the wonderfully macabre show is in safe hands and will continue to laugh in the face of death.

New episodes drop weekly on all major podcast platforms starting Tuesday 20th May.
