Iain Stirling admits doing private comedy show to wife Laura Whitmore

Comedian Iain Stirling has revealed that he does his own private comedy show to wife Laura Whitmore if he doesn’t have a comedy gig booked in. It is not always wanted though. He has admitted that  Laura asks him to “go outside and do a gig” so she can get on with her evening but says he still “tries to drop little bits in” during conversations.

Stirling was talking on  Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Zoe Hardman [in for Amanda Holden].

Zoe Hardman asked: "Do you run your jokes pass Laura, before you write them? Well... before you kind of put them in stage?"

Stirling replied: "I try and like gig three, four times a week because I'm sort of obsessed with it. If I don't gig like three, four times a week, I will start doing material at Laura. And then she will literally say to me, "I'm going to put the little one to bed tonight. Please go outside and do a gig so can you stop doing material when I'm trying to make a chilli con carne"

ZH: And you're just doing it in the garden to yourself?

IS: I do sometimes. I do try and drop little bits in. But generally speaking, we sort of just chat like a sort of couple. I mean, like couples on podcast, but we do that in private.."

Listen to Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Zoe Hardman [in for Amanda Holden], weekdays from 6am – 10am, and on Global Player.***
