Secret Artists Returns – Full Guests Line-Up Here

Secret Artists podcast returns on Thursday, August 31, with host comedian and artist Annie McGrath alongside an exceptional line-up of guests. Series five opens with a double whammy; the first two episodes to drop feature comedian and presenter Elis James, as well as winner of this year’s Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Newcomer, Urooj Ashfaq.

Among the other guests confirmed for the new series are renowned satirist and internet sensation Rosie Holt, voice of Love Island Iain Stirling, star of The Inbetweeners, Belinda Stewart-Wilson, and many more.

The premise of Secret Artists is: funny people doing art. McGrath’s guest brings their chosen muse, and together they create their own piece of art whilst chatting all things highbrow and lowbrow. The podcast offers a different format to the standard comedy interview podcast, and aims to celebrate the act of painting, whilst breaking down the idea that art is exclusionary.

Secret Artists featured in The Art Newspaper’s Top Culture Podcasts, where it was described as “a hugely enjoyable podcast” where “philosophical nuggets emerge unexpectedly amid off-the-cuff conversations.”

Frequently recommended in the national press by such publications as The Guardian, Esquire, and iNews, Secret Artists was named ‘Podcast of the week’ in The Times, where it was described as “an insightful, gentle look into the worlds of successful entertainers who also make art in their spare time.”

Secret Artists podcast launched in 2019 when it was named one of the Evening Standard’s Best New Podcasts. It has since amassed an impressive and enthusiastic following, reaching over 130,000 downloads.

Over 80 episodes of Secret Artists are already available, with a stellar line-up of guests including: Phil Wang, Katy Wix, Joe Lycett, Lolly Adefope, Alex Horne, Rhys James, Lou Sanders, John Kearns, Fern Brady, Kim Noble, Morgana Robinson, Brett Goldstein, Ellie White, Harriet Kemsley, Tom Stourton, Mae Martin, Jamie Demetriou, Ania Magliano, Ian Smith, Tom Allen, Nish Kumar, Nina Conti, Joel Dommett, and many more.

“My hope is that the podcast offers a light-hearted and accessible ‘way in’ to art through the realm of comedy. I love doing Secret Artists and until someone decides to commission it as a TV show, I’ll keep doing the podcast!”- Annie McGrath
