Edinburgh Fringe Review – Sikisa, Hear Me Out, Monkey Barrel

If you want a show to send you out partying into the night Sikisa certainly fits the bill. Hear Me Out will get you laughing, stomping your feet and probably dancing in the street straight afterwards too.

This south Londoner certainly lives life to the full, and she reveals almost all onstage. By day she is an immigration lawyer, by night stand-up comedy is not enough for her, she also a burlesque act. And as well as an assured comedy set, there's more than a taste of her burlesque side here.

As seems to have become compulsory in comedy Sikisa talks about her mental health. Not ADHD for a change, but as an adult she was diagnosed as dyslexic. Suddenly all those spelling errors made sense.

Her show starts on a high and never lets up as she discusses everything from messy relationships and sex parties to the childhood that shaped her. The punchlines might occasionally be a little too mainstream for some tastes but, boy, can she sell them.

And just when you've concluded that she is an irresistible force of nature she comes up with a finale that blows the roof off the room. It's probably more showbiz than the Edinburgh Fringe can stand and not the kind of cerebral thing that wins awards, but nobody can say they weren't throughly entertained.

Until August 27.
