Scrap The Monarchy Single Is Highest Chart Entry

Scrap The Monarchy Song Aims For The Charts
Basildon punk band The Krown Jewelz' Coronation protest song Scrap The Monarchy has crashed into the UK chart as the week’s highest new entry at number 9.

Streams aside, it is also the Coronation week's NUMBER ONE SELLING SINGLE.

The band have dedicated the single to their friend and promoter, Canterbury punk Daveee Wild who passed away in 2014.

Scrap The Monarchy is the Essex Punk band’s fifth consecutive top 20 single in various guises, each time without any big record, management or PR company pulling the strings. The band received no radio play, TV or mainstream press coverage.

The Krown Jewelz have been forced to find creative ways to promote their song’s message. At a show at South East London’s New Cross Inn, singer K-Royale revealed his latest artwork A Waste of Money which consists of 100 Specimen £10 banknotes featuring King Charles’s image that he has used to wipe his bottom. K-Royale says of the piece, “Hopefully A Waste of Money will start a conversation about whether wiping my bottom on a hundred replica banknotes of King Charles is more disgusting than spending £250 million of the public's money on a Coronation for an unelected, sausage-fingered, parasite while many working people rely on foodbanks to feed their families."

The video on Vevo ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2udNi4mZ90U ) features the Krown Jewelz running in the London Marathon, doing a dance routine in front of The Tower dressed as beefeaters, and being pursued by someone wearing a King Charles mask with sausages for fingers.

The Krown Jewelz are usually better known under their less family-friendly pseudonym The Kunts, the Essex punk band formed by dark comedy songwriter and activist Kunt and the Gang.
