Russell Kane Makes Pop Star Chart Bid With Debut R&B Slow Jam

Comedian and CALM ambassador Russell Kane drops his first ever music single with RnB parody ‘Laundry Fight’ in aid of suicide prevention charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).

Released today (April 28) and available to purchase via iTunes ‘Laundry Fight’ is a 90s swing ballad about discarded pants, and the annoyance of partners who leave their dirty clothes all over the place.

For his debut, Kane has teamed up with Ivor Novello, MTV VMA and IDMA nominated producer Nick Bridges (Bodyrox, nDubz, Chipmunk) to professionally produce the record - later teaming up with award-winning producer/songwriter Si Hulbert (One Direction, Ed Sheeran, James Hype), and artist/songwriter Amanda Wilson (Avicii, The Freemasons) to make what is now titled ‘Laundry Fight’.

The initial mix (RnB Edit) followed the chord progressions of Russ’ original parody which has been purposely produced in the style of early 90’s swing for comedy value. The second mix has a vintage Minneapolis sound combining funk-pop, soul, boogie and disco-pop bringing the record up to date.

All proceeds from the sale of the song will go to suicide prevention CALM, of whom Russell is an ambassador.

Russell Kane commenting on the single release said: “I'm buzzing like my wife's toy drawer to be making music for the first time in my life, and for such an amazing cause.  The more we can get people talking and communicating the healthier we become.  CALM is such a superb charity and I'm proud (and a bit emotional) to be fundraising for them - even if it has taken the form of my mid-life crisis with me rapping.  Next stop: The Booth on live radio!”
