The UK Comedians Whose Specials Rank Highly In America

Superstar comedians including Daniel Sloss are among the famous names who feature in a new chart of the 10 best British Stand-Up Comedy Specials, according to votes from IMDb users.

Some of the shows in the chart, including one by Ricky Gervais, whose Humanity rates at Number 10, are available to stream worldwide but Daniel Sloss' X from 2019 comes in at number three with 8.4 out of 10, despite it not being a worldwide release. It is only available to watch online in two territories, the USA and Canada.

Sloss has just completed a sell-out run of his latest show CAN'T at the Soho Playhouse in New York. It was his seventh off-Broadway season.

X, his acclaimed tour de force about sexual assault and toxic masculinity, toured non-stop for 300 performances over 17 months around the globe, including shows in Europe, UK, US, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan and packing a Moscow arena (becoming Russia’s biggest ever English language comedy show).

The film of X is on HBO in USA and Canada and was the first UK comedy special with a UK premiere in cinemas, following a nationwide release at Vue.

His eagerly anticipated latest show CAN'T comes to the UK this week, starting at the SEC Armadillo in Glasgow on October 1 with further dates including the London Palladium on October 21 and February 4, 2023. Dates and tickets here.

Number one in the chart was James Acaster's Cold Lasagne, Hate Myself 1999. Full chart is here.
