Baby Cow To Make Katy Wix And Adam Drake Series Fat Camp

Steve Coogan's production company Baby Cow is to make Fat Camp, a new series written by Stath Lets Flats/Ghosts star Katy Wix and Adam Drake (“The Chosen”). Wix will also star in it.

Wix and Drake also previously co-fronted a podcast, Dear Me, in which they travelled up and down the country, taking their favourite people from the public eye back to the places of their youth. At each place, the guest talked through their memories and gave a message to their younger self. Guests included Liam Williams, Kiell Smith-Bynoe and Lou Sanders.

Fat Camp will be centered around a diet camp in the UK and was inspired by an article Wix read about real camps where parents send their children to help them lose weight.

“Growing up as a fat teenager, I would have loved to have seen a body like mine on TV, being allowed to be funny and powerful and not the butt of a joke,” Wix told Variety. “Adam and I have created a funny, diverse world of lovable, young characters and we can’t wait to join them in their fight to bring down the system that makes them feel small. Off to camp!”

Katy Wix is a Welsh actor, writer and comedian. Her memoir “Delicacy” was published in 2021 to great acclaim and explored eating disorders, body image, loss, and mental health. She is best known for her roles as Carole in the Channel 4 BAFTA-winning comedy Stath Lets Flats, Mary in BBC1’s Ghosts, Taskmaster, BBC Three’s Ladhood, This Time With Alan Partridge and for her own sketch show on Channel 4, Anna and Katy. Katy has also played many dramatic roles in major dramas such as BBC’s Sherlock, Torchwood and Decline and Fall. She has written and starred in two series of her own Radio 4 sitcom Bird Island.

Wix and Drake will also exec produce alongside Baby Cow CEO Sarah Monteith and Rupert Majendie, Baby Cow’s head of development.
