Who Is On The Last Leg?

With the entire comedy world in Edinburgh this week it must have been a bit of a challenge for The Last Leg to rustle up some top class comedy guests, but boy have they played a blinder.

Their big coup this week is getting Dara O Briain, who always has plenty to say for himself - so much in fact you might be better off watching him at halfspeed – and will probably be talking a bit about the BBC's decision to axe Mock The Week after all these years.

O Briain has already been outspoken on the axing which he reportedly heard about when he was on holiday. In the Guardian he wrote: "It turns out that I was hosting a Rorschach test for culture warriors, eager to see within the show whatever agenda they wanted...it is still only an excuse to get comedians on the telly and that the comedians don’t have, and have never had, an agenda greater than getting a laugh from the studio audience....People have taken our nonsense waaaayyyy too seriously. Some viewers used to watch the show with stopwatches and contact us if we had spoken about one political party for longer than the other." Read the full article here.

The other main guest is Rosie Jones who will be returning to Channel 4 in September with her own travel show, Trip Hazard. The Yorkshire comic is also developing a programme with Channel 4 exploring society’s attitudes towards people with disabilities. Rosie, who has cerebral palsy, will explore the abuse that people with disabilities face, having encountered a lot of it herself both online and in person.

Plus Strictly winner Rose Ayling-Ellis who recently announced that she is leaving EastEnders.

As ever the show will be hosted by Adam Hills, Alex Brooker and Josh Widdicombe. It's been a big week for Widdicombe – his grandfather celebrated his 100th birthday and received a telegram from the Queen. Presumably as Who Do You Think You Are? revealed that Widdicombe has royal blood his grandfather must be related to the Queen anyway so maybe it's no surprise she popped a card in the post.

The Last Leg, Friday, August 19, C4.
