Richard Herring Becomes Movember Ambassador

Comedian Richard Herring has become an ambassador for Movember, the leading charity dedicated to changing the face of men’s health, with the motto, "Whatever you Grow will save a Bro."

Herring, who was successfully treated for testicular cancer in 2021, tweeted the news: "Delighted to have been made an ambassador of @MovemberUK which means I get to host receptions and hand around trays of…. Oh God those aren’t Ferrero Rochers. You maybe able to become a peer for a million pounds, but the price of becoming a Movember ambassador is greater."

Herring is currently working on a new book in which he talks about his experiences of becoming a "minor celebrity monoballer". He chose not to have a prosthetic replacement when he had one of his testicles removed.

On becoming a Team Ambassador Herring encouraged all ball-owners to check regularly for any unusual lumps or growths in the scrotal vicinity. "Ball fondling can save your life."

It is currently Testicular Cancer Awareness Month. Writing on his blog he added: "It’s weird to think that I was raising money and awareness for Movember back in November 2020, totally unaware that I was raising money and awareness for something that I was affected by. I generally like to support charities that I don’t have a direct connection to, as otherwise it looks a bit like self-interest. But the Universe conspired to give me the cancer that is one of the main focuses of Movember. I think I just thought about moustaches and getting sponsorship at the time. I didn’t even give my own balls a fondle. Might I have noticed the problem earlier if I had?"
