John Moloney Show Returns For Fifth Series

John Moloney Show Returns For Fifth Series

Award-winning comic John Moloney returns to Radio 4 with the fifth season of his critically acclaimed comedy series THE JOHN MOLONEY SHOW. The first episode will be broadcast on Wednesday 26 January at 11.15pm, followed at the same time weekly. The series will also be available on BBC Sounds.

As with the four-preceding series, THE JOHN MOLONEY SHOW sees John pick up the threads with tales of the everyday life of his family and pets, peppered with his usual comedic slant.

In the new episodes, whether John is writing his Will, looking back at his time in an Irish Folk group, or yes, having a colonoscopy - John finds the funny.

As with thousands of others in the entertainment industry, John’s job ground to a halt, overnight, when COVID struck, so to be back recording again after a two-year break, in front of a live audience at The Stand comedy club in Glasgow is particularly special.

During the pandemic government advice suggested John  might retrain as an IT Consultant but he was understandably not tempted, especially when he considered a comment from a taxi driver who having recognized his voice said, “your stuff reminds me of Tony Hancock – you speak about ordinary stuff, and you make it funny”!

Produced by Dabster Productions and pioneered by Richard Melvin who has helped kick start the careers of the likes of Sarah Millican and Miles Jupp. Commenting on the new series Richard Melvin said “I’m so delighted to be teaming up again with John for a fifth series of his hilarious show for the BBC.  He’s one of the most consistently funny, kind, and supportive people I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years.

Previous shows have been selected by producers at Radio 4 for Pick of the Week and Comedy of the Week and even Pick of the Year.
