Afternoon Comedy In London This Sunday

Afternoon Comedy In London

"Old Dogs, New Schtick, Great Gig" – that's the subtitle of this Sunday's gig at the Cockpit Theatre featuring entertainers who know the comedy business inside out and back to front. I'd call them seasoned comedians but that makes it sound as if they are covered in salt and pepper.

Charmian Hughes knows everything there is to know about stand-up. She gigs as often as she can all over the UK every week. Hughes has trained as a clown and done daft stuff in the past, these days she has evolved into a skilful storyteller, often drawing on her interesting, colourful family background for inspiration.

Ronnie Golden has a career stretching back to being a lynchpin in alternative pop stars The Fabulous Poodles. More recently he has performed on an irregular basis with Barry Cryer but here goes it alone. Expect jokes, puns, quips, music, all sort of things that will make you laugh.

Rikki Tarascas is a veteran improviser, currently developing a beatnik poetry show and other character based comedy shows. He has performed at many comedy festivals including Brighton. In the 1980s he was based in Manchester and was part of the thriving comedy and theatre scene there.

The show is compered (and organised) by Chris Orr. Chris is returning to stand up after a break of thirty years. During his extended sabbatical he has continued to keep up comic skills with improv performances.

Has the sound of this whetted your appetite for laughs and also made you feel peckish? Doors open at 3.30pm, the show runs from 4pm - 6pm and the Lahori Indian Restaurant opposite offers 15% off. What more could you want?

Sunday, December 5, Cockpit Theatre. Buy tickets here.
