Producers Fight in the Dog are looking to commission some new theatre. They are hoping to work with and support relatively early-career playwrights who have brilliant imaginations and fantastic stories to tell.
This is their statement:
"We would like writers to submit ideas to us at [email protected] by 9th July at 5pm. All ideas will be read. Any ideas that we feel fit the Fight in the Dog brief, we will request the Artist deliver a treatment to us (for a fee of £250). Following treatment submissions, we will decide if it feels that we are the right producers for the show. We will then request a meeting with the Artist to discuss a full script commission.
What we need in the first round
- 250-word pitch of your idea
- Include genre, and why that genre
- If the genre is a musical, a bit of information into the type of music you propose using.
- Consider practicalities: for instance, a necessary cast of 45 actors and 12 horses can be practically problematic. Creative problem solving is encouraged though.
- Focus on the narrative and why it excites you. Why should this story be told in the theatre?
- Add a bit about you
- Sometimes (though not always) it is useful to see some comparisons to existing shows to help us get the gist of the tone
Guidelines for ideas
No kids show
No immersive shows
Not from existing IP which is still in copyright
Not something you have already written
No solo shows
We usually like comedy and encourage comedians who have never written a play before.
We would happily consider a musical or a play. Whichever, we want to be entertained!"
