Last Leg Returns For 22nd Series

Watch Suella Braverman Get Pranked On The Last Leg

The Last Leg is back and, yes, that's right, this is the 22nd series for Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker. Once again they will be live from the studio offering their satirical insight into current world events.

Adam, Josh and Alex are joined by guests from the worlds of comedy, entertainment and politics to help them dissect the biggest news stories of the week - this week's guests are Rob Beckett and Maya Jama.

So for Josh Widdicombe it means teaming up with his co-host of the acclaimed podcast Lockdown Parenting Hell. The podcast launched last year has been one of the hits of the pandemic (if you can say such a thing) with Widdicombe and Beckett building up a devoted audience eager to hear about their hapless attempts at dadness, though actually sometimes they are pretty good parents, particularly when you realise how sleep-deprived they are – particularly Widdicombe, whose partner Rose has just given birth to their second child (by C-section if you want to be nosey).

Hopefully at some point they will tour - the success of Chris and Rosie Ramsey's podcast, which is selling loads of tour tickets, suggests there is definitely a market for Josh and Rob on the road together. Though finding the time for it might be a challenge as they both have various projects on the go.

Widdicombe and Beckett have certainly not been idle during lockdown when not podcasting or parenting. They both have autobiographies out in the autumn. Beckett's is called A Class Act. Widdicombe's is called Watching Neighbours Twice a Day...: How ’90s TV (Almost) Prepared Me for Life and does not bear much relation to the story that appeared earlier this year that was based on an out of date synopsis posted on a website. Widdicombe was recently recalling on their podcast having to do the photoshoot for the cover and how painful the process was.

So please excuse Widdicombe if he looks a bit hollow-eyed in this first episode. The Last Leg will also look ahead and count down to this summer's Tokyo Paralympics – the show first started when it covered the paralympics in London in 2012 (anyone got a time machine please?).

As ever, the hashtag #isitok paves the way for the gang to round up, examine and explain the week's leading and most entertaining news stories via their acerbic wit, enlightening discussions and unique sketches.

Series Prod: Danny Carr; Exec Prods: Andrew Beint, Ben Knappett; Prod Co: Open Mike Productions

The Last Leg, Fridays from June 4, C4, 10pm.

Update: The guests on June 11 are Kevin Bridges and AJ Odudu.
