Charles Grodin, the star of countless classic comedy films including The Heartbreak Kid, Beethoven and Midnight Run, has died. He was 86.
It has been reported in The New York Times that he had bone marrow cancer.
Other movie appearances included roles in Catch-22, Heaven Can Wait, Real Life, Dave, Seems Like Old Times, While We're Young and Ishtar.
He also appeared in the Louis CK TV comedy Louis.
But it was probably his role as a nervy criminal being taken into justice by Robert De Niro's bounty hunter in Midnight Run that won him many new fans.
He also hosted his own issues-oriented talk show, The Charles Grodin Show, on CNBC and was a politcal commentator for a while.
