Cambridge Comedy Festival Reassures Fans Of Covid Safety

In the face of escalating concern over the transmission and infection rate of the newly identified Indian variant which once again could potentially slam the doors shut on the events industry just as it’s about to crawl off the floor and take its first steps back to normality the Cambridge Comedy Festival has taken steps to counteract the situation and give its event a fighting chance of going ahead this July.

Using the same template and building on the recent scientifically successful trial events (football, snooker, rave, live music gig & Brit Awards) where attendees produced a negative lateral flow test upon arrival and there were zero positive tests five days post event, the festival will be using the same system of testing upon arrival and to re-inforce safety measures they will also have 6 person bubble squares marked out throughout the site and with all the stages and bars being open-air they are confident that even if government and PHE rules revert to the Rule of 6 and Tier 2 restrictions the event will go ahead.

The Cambridge Comedy Festival features over 150 acts.

The event will run from July 9 - 11 and comedy fans can camp on the site and enjoy a line-up over four stages that includes Dara O Briain, Rob Beckett, Russell Kane, Al Murray, Kiri Pritchard-McLean, Reg Hunter, Catherine Bohart, Milton Jones And Many More.

If England, Scotland or Wales reach the Euro final on the Sunday night the match will be screened on the main stage and the schedule will change

Andy White, the promoter behind the festival said :"I hate fighting - it’s pointless, dumb and stinks but I love a fight, never give up and never throw in the towel and along with the scientists, nurses and doctors have no intention of letting a microscopic parasite particle win…so we’re going to do all we can to make it a safe event and ensure everyone attending has a top fun time at our fantastic festival. "
