Radio Show Dates For Jamie MacDonald

Comedian Jamie MacDonald Appears In New Documentary About Blindness

Andrew Roach Talent are pleased to announce a brand new BBC Radio 4 series from comedian Jamie MacDonald which will transmit in the 11pm slot from the start of May.

Jamie MacDonald is a Glaswegian stand-up comedian, writer and voiceover artist who found himself rapidly going blind in his teens. This series shows how Jamie used humour to turn denial into acceptance ... finding the spotlight as the darkness descended, he’s managed to laugh himself all the way to the top of the bill at comedy clubs around the country

In this 4 x 15 minute stand-up series, recorded in front of a virtual live audience, Jamie reveals his own experience of losing his sight, and how he has finally embraced his blindness in the most frank and hilarious terms. From utter denial to enthusiastic acceptance, this comedic take on his eyes’ degenerative journey offers a truly different perspective on life, and all the things we take for granted.

The series will be produced by Julia Sutherland for Dabster Productions whose Radio 4 credits include Rosie Jones - Box Ticker, Suggs Love Letters To London, Fred At The Stand and Terry Alderton’s Whole Half Hour.

"I've loved BBC Radio 4 comedy all my life. The station has been a launch pad for some of my favourite comedians and I can't believe I've now been given my own series! The only time I've been this excited and terrified was when my mate let me drive his car!"

Jamie MacDonald is a Scottish comedian, writer and voiceover artist. In 2017 Jamie was named on the BBC New Talent Hotlist as well as reaching the semi-final of the BBC New Comedy Award. His credits include Fred At The Stand (BBC Radio 4), Rosie Jones: Box Ticker (BBC Radio 4), Breaking The News (BBC Scotland) and Raiders Of The Lost Archive (BBC Scotland).
