News: Sunday Brunch Guests

More laid back Sunday Brunch chat plus celebrities, grub and booze wrangled by Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer.

Today's guests include Ricky Wilson whose career curriculum vitae ranges from The Kaiser Chiefs to judging The Voice. He's always seemed like an unusual rock/pop star to me. One of my most memorable gig-going experiences was seeing the Kaiser Chiefs at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith.

Due to reasons too long and boring to go into here I arrived late and grabbed my seat in the front row of the balcony. I was a bit cheesed off because i'd been hoping to get a good view near the stage. The band was already on, but I looked and couldn't see Ricky Wilson, even though I could clearly hear him. Then I turned to my right and saw that he'd left the stage, run up the stairs and was performing while standing next to me. So I had a pretty good view after all.

Also on Sunday Brunch are singer Alexandra Burke, acting/comedy national treasure Alison Steadman, presenter Laura Whitmore, and various amounts of music and chat from from Glass Animals, Kings of Leon and Caleb Followill.

Not to mention Sharon Rooney, recently seen in Finding Alice, which is set to return for a second series, and also known for Two Doors Down and My Mad Fat Diary.

Steadman told The Times last month how she has been coping in lockdown: "I’ve done a few jobs, just enough to feel I’m not going stir crazy. I recently spent a couple of days recording a play from home for BBC Radio 4. And the other week I did a voiceover for an NHS charity on my iPhone.

During the first lockdown I made a Mr Punch puppet. It was the ideal thing because it takes a long time to make a puppet out of papier-mâché. You have to let it dry. I painted and varnished it, then found some old velvet cushion covers for the costume. I’ve always loved crafting."

All this and drinks from Karina Elias and food advoce from Georgina Hayden.

Sunday Brunch, Sundays, 9.30am, C4.
