Most people who work in the UK live comedy sector are optimistic about the future, according to an anonymous snap survey. The short survey has identified what people involved in live comedy across the UK feel about the future. Almost 200 people responded to the survey, which was written and circulated by comedy producer Geoff Rowe (pictured), and it revealed 66% were overall optimistic about the future.
Geoff Rowe, the Founding Director of Leicester Comedy Festival & The UK Kids’ Comedy Festival, is to step down from the Festival after they have finished in February 2023. Leicester Comedy Festival is Europe’s biggest comedy festival and this year’s event saw over 800 performances from comedians including Pam Ayres, Rosie Jones, Ria Lina, Stewart Lee, Chris McCausland, Nabil Abdulrashid, Katherine Ryan and Henning Wehn.
The NHS and the UK Kids’ Comedy Festival 2022 are out to prove that laughter is the best medicine for the mental health and wellbeing of young people.
National digital radio station Union JACK has appointed Geoff Rowe, Founding Director of the Leicester Comedy Festival as Director of Comedy. This is a role that will help to shape the station’s long-term comedy strategy and which will be undertaken alongside his existing commitments with Leicester Comedy Festival.
