News: Bob Slayer Increases Edinburgh Fringe Venues

Promoter extraordinaire Bob Slayer has added another venue to his Edinburgh Fringe empire.

The newly opened Monkey Barrel Comedy Club will be part of Slayer's Heroes Of Fringe operation in 2017 alongside The Hive, BlundaBus and Dragonfly. This will give them two more purpose built comedy rooms centrally located on Blair St, taking them from 44 shows last year to 66 next August.

Slayer, who shared the 2016 Edinburgh Comedy Award Spirit of the Fringe Panel Prize for the Iraq Out Loud project, explains: "With over £70,000 worth of ticket sales last Fringe we continue, year on year to double the ££ we make for acts. If we were to carry on at this rate (and why not eh?) In another 5 years we will sell 2.2 million tickets. Which is EVERY SINGLE TICKET AT THE FRINGE!!"

"The only way the 'current' Big Four venues and the rest of the commercialised Fringe Industry can prevent us taking over the Fringe is a Bay of Pigs style counter invasion...We are more than happy to have a chat and let the other venues know how we do it. After all I became a promoter by accident and all I really want to be is a bus driver."
