Preview: Ten Must See Edinburgh Fringe Shows I Still Need To See: Page 2 of 2

Max & Ivan

Like James Acaster Max & Ivan have become Fringe favourites that everyone should see. Their latest show is said to be autobiographical, but then don’t half the shows on the Fringe claim that? You can be sure that this excellent duo will have their own take on getting personal onstage.

Until Aug 28 at Pleasance Dome. Tickets here.

Sam Simmons

Edinburgh Comedy Award reigning champ is back with a new heady brew of angst and surrealism. Last year’s show was his most relatable yet and the word is that he has gone back to his original weirdness here. For those long-standing Simmons loyalists that sounds like a good thing, though this may not be the ideal entry point to his wacky world.

Until Aug 28 at Underbelly. Tickets here.

Kieran Hodgson

Last year Hodgson was Edinburgh Comedy Award-nominated for a show about his childhood obsession with cycling in general and Lance Armstrong in particular. This time round he has turned his acute comic gaze to his love of classical music in Maestro. Review here.

Until Aug 28 at Voodoo Rooms. Info here.

Fin Taylor

Guest critic Claire Smith was probably more intrigued than entertained by this complex meta-comedy about shock comedy and white privilege which has divided critics so I think I’m going to have to go just to make up my own mind. Review here.

Until Aug 28 at Gilded Ballon at the Counting House. Info here.

Joel Dommett

Could this be Joel’s year? Dommett has been around for a while but the talk is that he has gone up a few gears with a set that is not just him dicking about onstage. Although he probably does a bit of that too - which is no bad thing, he usually dicks around very well.

Until Aug 27 at Pleasance Courtyard. Tickets here.
