News: Brian Pern Hits The Road For Real

Brian Pern

Brian Pern, who has presented two series about rock music on BBC television, is to play a rare live show. An Evening With Brian Pern will take place at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue on Monday 19th October.

In a statement issued today by his publicist, Pern is doing the gig because "this year is the 1st anniversary of the 10th anniversary of the 20th anniversary of the 10th anniversary of Brian's first solo album.  To celebrate, Brian is coming to the West End for the very first time for a unique event and you are all invited."

In an on stage interview conducted by award winning documentary maker Rhys Thomas OBE, Brian Pern will give a rare glimpse into the creative process of one of our greatest musicians.  We will see clips of his past videos, unseen footage of early performances and messages from fellow musicians. Brian Pern invented World Music. He was the first rock star to use plasticine in videos and his Greatest Hits album sold 95 million copies in Antwerp alone.

He will be sharing tales from a lifetime in the world of rock and roll, from the early days of his prog rock band Thotch to the present day and revealing the inner workings of his most personal work. This one night only event will end with a question and answer session with you, the audience and an exclusive performance of Brian’s greatest hits, live on stage with a host of special guests to be announced.

Pern, who has occasionally been mistaken for Fast Show comedian Simon Day, has created some of the greatest music of all time.  He is the only artiste in the world who has won an Academy Award, a Grammy, an MTV award, a Brit Award, A BAFTA, an Ivor Novello Award, A South Bank Show Award, An Emmy, A Smash Hits Poll Winner’s Party Award, Celebrity Mastermind, the Nobel Peace Prize and a Gotchya Oscar.
