News: Josh Berry's Fake News Returns To Union Jack Radio

National digital radio station, Union JACK, has commissioned a third series of Josh Berry’s Fake News – the satirical impression show created and fronted by impressionist Josh Berry. Josh Berry’s Fake News will initially be made available as a weekly podcast, with the first episode available to listen to on-demand from Tuesday 6 October; online at unionjack.co.uk, via the Union JACK radio app, or through major podcast channels including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Berry originally gained prominence for his impressions of tennis players in 2013, when his impressions of stars including Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal propelled him onto national TV and radio outlets during coverage of Wimbledon. Since then, he has starred in shows including Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, Dead Ringers and The Now Show, and videos that he created during the national lockdown have won him thousands of new fans and plaudits, with individual content regularly receiving in excess of 300K views. The second series of Josh Berry’s Fake News, which was broadcast on Union JACK radio last year, recently won a nomination for The Best Comedy Podcast at the British Podcast Awards 2020.

Josh Berry’s Fake News is described as not topical but relevant, mocking every sphere of the political landscape. It was described by one listener as “sickeningly well-written and produced,” and by Josh’s father as “quite good in parts”. Speaking of the new series, Josh said: “Union JACK radio has supported my journey as a comedian from the off, giving me the freedom to write and produce content to share with their listeners. I’m excited to see what people think of this latest series of Josh Berry’s Fake News.”

Giles Gear, Programme Manager at Union JACK radio, said: “Josh Berry has had a meteoritic rise in comedy – his impressions are exceptional and he has a very exciting career ahead of him, so we’re delighted to have a long-standing relationship with him here at Union JACK radio. Josh has rightly earned himself an army of fans during the lockdown through the delivery of some incredibly well-timed and expertly-created content, and we just know that they are going to love this next series of Josh Berry’s Fake News.”

Union JACK Radio has quickly cemented its reputation as the ‘Home of Great British Comedy on the Radio’ with a sustained investment and a strategic focus on British comedy, playing clips of classic comedy and investing in up-and-coming talent and formats, whilst also extending the reach of some of the nation’s most-loved comedy events, including Leicester Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The station became the fastest growing commercial radio station in the UK in 2019, and today boasts 180,000 weekly listeners. In February 2020, Union JACK Radio was shortlisted for Best National Station at The Radio Academy ARIAS – the leading awards for the audio industry.

The first episode of Josh Berry’s Fake News is available on-demand from Tuesday 6 October 2020, with a new episode released each week. Listen online at unionjack.co.uk, via the Union JACK radio app, or through most major podcast channels.
