News: Edinburgh Fringe Show Title Controversy

Gavin Webster

In the never-ending bid to come up with an eye-catching show title to get the box office takings moving in the right direction, Gavin Webster has opted for what could be dubbed the Ronseal Approach for his 2014 Edinburgh Fringe show. Well, we don't know how controversial the actual show will be, but the title, A Controversial Title In Order To Sell Tickets, should certainly look good on the flyers. The show is at Stand III from July 31 - August 24. This News post is a plug for the Geordie comedian, but also a note to myself for when I get asked to write the annual feature about unusual show titles. My favourite idea on these lines was actually music-related - there was once a band who called themselves Godot, so that they could describe themselves as "the band you've all been waiting for". Though a word of caution to Gavin Webster. Whatever happened to Godot?
