News: Comedy Club Offers Bursary for Female Comics

London comedy club The 99 Club is launching a bursary for female performers taking their first full length solo show to the Edinburgh Festival. Shortlisted performers will appear in a showcase at one of their West End venues on 24th July and two comics will each receive an award of £500.

The 99 Club has played host to a number of acclaimed female comics including Sara Pascoe, Ellie Taylor, Sarah Millican, Sarah Silverman, Luisa Omelian, Katherine Ryan, Zoe Lyons, Kerry Godliman, Roisin Conaty, Holly Walsh, Shappi Khorsandi (Roisin, Holly and Shappi have been resident MCs) and many many more.

Earlier this year the club was an official partner of the UN Women’s HeforShe gender equality campaign, and ran a comedy show to raise both funds and awareness in conjunction with their 2017 Arts Week.
