News: Groundbreaking Comedy The Real McCoy Gets BBC Release

1990s comedy series The Real McCoy is to be released on digital download by the BBC Store as part of the Race Through the Decades collection.

The groundbreaking series ran from 1991 to 1995 and was the BBC's first multi-cultural sketch show. Performers included double act Curtis and Ishmael, Meera Syal, Robbie Gee, Judith Jacob, Colette Johnson and Llewella Gideon. The 1991 series is now commercially available for the first time.

The collection is BBC Store’s first look at six decades of drama and comedy that has reflected a changing Britain. Charting the rising voices of the country’s Black and Asian communities, it tells the story of Britain’s journey towards a multicultural society. It also includes more recent comedy favourites including Citizen Khan and Goodness Gracious Me.
