News: C4 Head of Comedy Entertainment Leaves Channel

Channel 4's Head of Comedy Entertainment Ben Caudell is to leave.

He was previously Head of Comedy at Objective Productions and came to Channel 4 in May last year. His departure coincides with the news that there will be some restructuring at C4 following the acquisition of the rights to broadcast The Great British Bake Off. Liam Humphreys and Kelly Webb-Lamb will be responsible for the tent-based cooking programme at the channel.

Caudell was previously a co-founder of Zeppotron Productions, which was formed in 2000, and has worked with a number of rising stars including Charlie Brooker, Diane Morgan and Jimmy Carr. Caudell has been involved in programmes including C4's Black Mirror, BBC1's Would I Lie to You?, C4's 8 Out of 10 Cats and Sky 1's spoof crime show A Touch of Cloth.

He started out in television as a joke writer. One of his first jobs was writing for Jack Docherty's chat show on Five. He then went on to write for C4's The 11 O'Clock Show, which helped to discover Ricky Gervais and Sacha Baron Cohen.
