News: BBC Comedy Pulled Due To "Terrorist-y" Storyline

The final episode of Radio 4 comedy The Lentil Sorters was pulled from the schedules today due to a storyline involving terrorist suspects.

The episode was due to go out at 11.30am but instead was replaced by a repeat of a show marking Barry Cryer's 80th birthday.

The Lentil Sorters is set in the fictional Office of Local and National Statistics and written by Jack Bernhardt. It stars Vincent Franklin, Rebekah Staton, Kieran Hodgson and Julia Deakin. While doing a survey the team stumble across a man who really looks like he might be a home-grown Islamic terrorist. So ruthless twit Daniel (Kieran Hodgson) immediately wants to get MI5 to break into his flat and have him arrested, whereas big softy Audrey (Staton) thinks Daniel is leaping to conclusions and wants to defend the man’s human rights.

Tyler explained on Twitter why it was not going out, saying it was a bit "terrorist-y" and "too fruity, today of all days." The episode had been recorded back in May.

This is the second radio comedy to be affected by recent events. The Radio 2 Comedy Showcase one-off The King's Men starring Robert Webb was dropped from the schedules last month, although it was made available on iPlayer.
