News: Richard Briers To Be Honoured With Plaque

Richard Briers

The British Comedy Society is to honour late actor Richard Briers CBE with a blue plaque.

The plaque will be unveiled at noon on Sunday 1st November 2015 at Richard Briers's childhood home, Pepys Court in Raynes Park, London.

Dedication of the plaque will be followed by a drinks and lunch reception where Richard's widow, Ann and daughters Lucy and Katie along with colleagues. Susan Hampshire and Sir Michael Gambon will be present at the unveiling.

Speaking about the location of the blue plaque, Richard’s daughter Lucy said: “We felt it would be interesting for people to understand a little more about my father's roots, and how far he came through his hard work and unique talent. Dad would have thought it was great, and the young boy he was when he lived at Pepys Court would have thought it was extraordinary.”

Funds from the event, which will also include an auction of memorabilia, will be donated to Richard's favourite charity, the Actors' Benevolent Fund, of which his The Good Life co-star Dame Penelope Keith is President.

Tickets for the reception cost £45 (£40 for BCS members) and are available upon enquiry to [email protected]
