A special event is to take place on September 8 to mark what would have been Peter Sellers' ninetieth birthday.

Film and comedy expert Dick Fiddy, The Goon Show Preservation Society and The LOST Theatre in Stockwell will collectively present a special celebration of Peter Sellers, featuring some of those that worked with him sharing their reminiscences on-stage, as well as precious clips of Sellers performing and being interviewed. There will also be a rare opportunity to see a specially filmed performance of The Goon Show which has not been televised for over forty years.

Among those taking part are Robert Ross, British Comedy Expert and Historian, director Joe McGrath who worked with Sellers many times and Liz Fraser who worked with Sellers on I’m All Right Jack and Two Way Stretch. Acclaimed writer/performer Julian Dutton, author of the recent book Keeping Quiet (which charts the recent history of physical comedy) will discuss Peter’s physical comedic prowess!

Sellers, who died in 1980, was a complex man and created an equally complex gallery of unforgettable characters, from Fred Kite and Inspector Clouseau to Doctor Strangelove and Chauncey Gardiner. On what would have been his 90th birthday, the event aims to unravel some of that complexity from those who knew him.
