Interview: Rarely Asked Questions – James Veitch

james veitch

James Veitch is a keypad warrior. A fighter for justice with a broadband connection instead of a cape. In his breakthrough Edinburgh show he took on the Nigerian scammers and led them a merry dance when all they wanted was his entire life savings. He told the story of his playful antics in his book Dot Con. Read more about James' battles with red tape below or see him at the Soho Theatre until November 26. Tickets here.

1. What is the last thing you do before you go onstage (apart from check your flies, check for spinach between teeth and check your knickers aren't sticking out of your skirt)?

A nervous poo.

2. What irritates you?

The London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham

3. What is the most dangerous thing you have ever done?

I once came to a full stop on a box junction in Hammersmith.

4. What is the most stupid thing you have ever done?

Resolving to fight Hammersmith & Fulham council over the Box Junction Tape.

5. What has surprised you the most during your career in comedy?

The fact that Hammersmith & Fulham council said in a “NOTICE OF REJECTION OF REPRESENTATION”

“I am satisfied that the PCN was properly given within the law.

I have noted your comments. However, the CCTV evidence we have shows that you proceeded to cross the Box Junction without the exit being clear.”

James' sorry saga continues here.
