More Poetry From Slushy Romantic Tim Key In Beautiful Book Form

Poet, comedian, actor, screenwriter and radio personality Tim Key has ants in his pants and has written an anthology of poetry. Following his acclaimed bestsellers He Used Thought As A Wife and Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush, two anthologies of poems and conversations written during Lockdowns One and Three, prolific writer Tim Key is back with Chapters; his least ambitious project to date. Chapters will be released on Wednesday 14th February and will be available from timkey.co.uk and bookshops. Press release below and attached.

Tim is also embarking on a very mild book tour to celebrate the publication of Chapters. The print run is quite small, so the tour will be, too. But the book will be there, he’ll sign whatever, he’ll read some poems out and have a conversation with a guest interviewer. More info timkey.co.uk.

You can expect Tim’s usual biting, dry and ever-present witty humour in his latest anthology of poems and conversations. Chapters is an array of bluntly funny poems frequently peppered with illustrations from collaborator and designer Emily Juniper. Transcribed by Tim during the eighteen months it took for the book to be completed, dialogues between the writer and his, very patient collaborator, compliment the poems perfectly and will immerse you in the creation process of this anthology.

With poems ranging from dolphins, dates, Canterbury and the 2022 FIFA World Cup no less, amongst many other eclectic topics, Chapters makes for the perfect short book to read on the tube or at night with a glass of wine on hand.

Chapters Synopsis:

It is his least ambitious project to date. A slim book of the crap he’s been churning out over the past eighteen months. Poems about men getting stuck in webs, poems about the ancient city of Canterbury, poems about canoodling with a rose. A prolific sod, he’s selected ninety of his trademark vignettes and packed them off to Emily Juniper for her to fling onto pages and shape into a book. Discussions ensued about what, if anything, the point of it all was, and a healthy debate as to whether it should be broken up into chapters and, if so, why. All of these discussions are documented in the leftover space around the poems. The result is a splurge of words which very occasionally shine a light on modern times. It is the third book Tim and Emily have generated together.

Key has written five books; the first, Instructions, Guidelines, Tutelage, Suggestions, Other Suggestions and Examples Etc.: An Attempted Book by Tim Key. (And Conversations / Descriptions / A Piece About a Moth), was published in 2009, followed by 25 Poems, 3 Recipes and 32 Other Suggestions (An Inventory) and The Incomplete Tim Key. In 2020 he released He Used Thought As a Wife (An Anthology of Poems and Conversations from Inside) and sequel Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush (An Anthology of Poems and Conversations from Outside)Chapters will be his sixth book and third collaboration with book designer Emily Juniper.
