Adam Hills To Host Inclusive Sports Awards

Adam Hills To Host Inclusive Sports Awards

Adam Hills MBE, comedian and host of the Channel 4 series, The Last Leg, will be hosting the Inclusive Sports Awards held by Variety, the Children’s Charity in October.

Variety, the Children’s Charity provides practical support to disabled and disadvantaged children through providing wheelchairs, specialist equipment, their fully accessible Sunshine Coaches to SEND schools, and experiences on their Great Days Out.

In October, they will be hosting the inaugural Inclusive Sports Awards, which recognizes the outstanding achievements of athletes with disabilities across a range of sports.

Adam Hills MBE will be hosting the night. The comedian is known as a disability advocate, predominantly as the host of The Last Leg, which began as a commentary on the 2012 Paralympics. Adam also plays in the Warrington Wolves Physical Disability Rugby League and the feature length documentary Take His Legs follows the team as they prepare for the biggest game of their lives.

Adam was awarded an MBE for services to Paralympic Sport and disability awareness in the 2022 New Years Honours List.

Adam said, "I am so happy to say I will be hosting the Inclusive Sports Awards in October. I am passionate about making the sporting world an inclusive place for everyone, and these awards are very important for recognising the achievements of people with disabilities. It's fantastic to see such a step forward towards inclusivity."

The Inclusive Sports Awards, to be held at the Queens Hotel in Leeds on 30th October 2023, is the latest in Adam’s long history of disability advocacy. The awards show will put athletes with disabilities at the forefront, showcasing their achievements and celebrating the world of disability in sports.

Channel 4 Head of Sport Pete Andrews said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Variety to support the Inclusive Sports Awards. As the Paralympic Broadcaster, Channel 4 are used to celebrating the medal-winning exploits of ParalympicsGB elite athletes, but this is a fantastic opportunity to shine a light on the achievements of all disabled sports people at every level, across the UK.”

Tushar Prabhu, Variety Trustee and Awards organiser, said, “We are incredibly excited to welcome people to the Inclusive Sports Awards in October. While there has been great progress made by sport and disability in recent years, we have still not reached a place of equity in the sporting world. At Variety, we believe that everyone should have the chance to succeed, and these awards aim not only to celebrate inclusivity in sports, but to give athletes with disabilities the recognition they deserve.

“We are happy to confirm that Adam Hills MBE will be the host of this incredible evening. His work has been dedicated to raising awareness of issues faced by people with disabilities, while never losing his identity as a comedian, a sportsperson, and a father. He works hard to show that people with disabilities are people who have individual abilities, interests and needs.

“Adam will be an incredible asset to the awards and we look forward to welcoming him.”
