News: Sean Hughes' Funeral Takes Place

Comedian Sean Hughes' funeral took place on Monday at the Islington and Camden Cemetary in north London.

Among those in attendance alongside his brothers Martin and Alan and their families were friends, comedians and others who knew or worked with Hughes.

Mourners included Jack Dee, Omid Djalili, David Baddiel, Johnny Vegas, Stewart Lee, Ardal O'Hanlon, Rhona Cameron, Phill Jupitus, Jason Byrne, Reece Shearsmith, Bob Mortimer, Mark Steel and Mark Thomas. Also present were Peter Davison who Hughes acted with in The Last Detective and members of the stage production of The Railway Children which Hughes appeared in. David Tennant, a neighbour of Hughes in Crouch End, was there too.

Music played during the service included Cosmic Hero by Car Seat Headrest, Kennedy by The Wedding Present and Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now by The Smiths.

Hughes died suddenly on October 16 after a cardiac arrest at the age of 51. He had been suffering from cirrhosis of the liver.

His brothers Alan and Martin had posted on his Twitter page: "If you were a significant part of Sean's life, at any stage, please join us to celebrate him Monday. Thanks."
